Roles, responsibilities and authorities are defined, documented and communicated in order to facilitate effective environmental management.


The Company has implemented procedures to make persons working for it aware of the significant environmental aspects and related impacts associated with their work. Since 2003 more than 2,000 employees have received environmental training.


Work instructions have been developed for controlling activities related to significant impacts. Furthermore, it should be pointed out that Akakus Oil Operations is a pioneer in waste recycling in Libya. Our wastes are segregated at every location and sent to our internal landfill. Also, AOO is establishing agreements with several companies in order to recycle different wastes such as metallic scrap or used tyres.
